SS 20 - The Wealth Of Nations

Not a lot of 411 on SS-20. Here's all the info FLEX has on them. Fast & noisy hardcore from Ohio with great melodies & choruses. The music even reminds me of the Misfits sometimes, but the lyrics are political & cynical, no horror stuff. Killer EP. Formed in 1985. Released "Wealth of Nations" EP in 1985. Followed with "More Government Now" LP in 1986. Released the 7" "Pope's On Tour"in 1987. Released the CD "Capital Class" in 1995 and it reached the top 20 CD's in Cincinnati. Recently released the song " All Beered Up" on the WOXY compilation "97Xposure'99" cd.

Maximumrocknroll Interview taken from operationphoenixrecords:

MRR: What sort of audience reaction do you get? Do you feel you're getting across to new people when you play or just the same old faces?

SS-20: We've got a sizable nucleus of steadfast fans. Stage diving is OK with us - within reason. Of course we have our devotees who contribute harmony vocals between dives. As for new faces, we're fortunate to be able to play the Jockey Club just about as often as we want. Some people are just getting over the misconception that you'll get beat up by punks just by walking outside the club.

MRR: What do you think of the state of punk/hardcore in America right now? What can be done to improve things?

SS-20: Punk is alive and well in pockets throughout the country; go to other areas and it's a dinosaur. Hardcore's been going through some changes, which in any art form is necessay for revitalization. For those lamenting what they perceive as the imminent death of hardcore, we invite you to move to Cincinnati, where as Mark Twain put it, you could live happily for seven more years.

MRR: What do you think of the increased influence of heavy metal in hardcore?

SS-20: A total crock of ~love~. Everything about what it is and ever will be sucks.
