Riot – Fuck The World

Oi!-project from the Gothenburg area. Maybe not as unpolitical as they first appeared to beā€¦ the characteristic voice is easy to recognize and Riot got banned from the HolmĆng-festival the some year ago, as they, to the publics delight, performed 'our pride is our loyalty' by Skrewdriver. This is their second album, higher quality and thereby better then the first one.

Oxblood – 6 Hard Years

The band started out in 1992. There was not much of an oi scene in nyc at the time. Some bands came and went until four die hards members, tired of no shows, no bands, but so much oi in their blood to start a band for themselves, and embark onto a journey that still continues today. A band that would go down and still is in the history of oi as the most infamous, angry, violent band around. In the beginning, the line-up consisted of Harry drums, Paul bass, Mac guitar, frank vocals. Harry left the band to pursue his tattooing career in 1994. Frank left right after that to pursue his Psychobilly band. The current line up consist of Mac on vocals, Paul bass, Kevin drums, and Dave on guitar. In spite of their reputation, rumors and setbacks that they have encountered throughout the years, Oxblood is still alive and kicking. The gods of of oi are looking upon them and guiding them through thick & thin to the path of victory. Hated & proud themes on our lyrics are a reflection of our everyday skinhead life in New YCity. We sing about things we go through, like violence, being locked up, the New York Police Department, working by chance not by choice etc. Unlike other bands we don’t just sing about it, we actually live it. We do many covers in our sets by bands like Criminal Class – soldier, Combat 84 – violence, Brutal Combat – skinhead, Sham 69, 4skins, & other early oi French bands. Rose Tattoo-remedy etc.

Knowledge – A Gift Before I Go

Possessing an incredible gift to touch not only those around him, but his listeners as well, Nick Traina was an amazing person. Not only that, but he was quite skilled when it came to the art form of expression. Using his lyrics as an outlet to fight discrimination in every form, from age to skin color, in Nick's eyes everyone was equal. He would put his trust in you until you betrayed him, and he would always go out of his way to help someone when it was needed.

Formerly of California's successful Link 80, Nick stepped down as their front man to follow a vision -- he wanted to form a ska/punk/hardcore band that played all three types of music, but not in the same song. He wanted each style to stand out separately, and have its own impact on the listener.

Collecting a few friends in August of 1997, Knowledge was born. Playing a few shows, and recording an eleven-song demo to shop around to labels, for the two months Knowledge were together they instantly clicked. But on September 20, 1997 Nick Traina lost his long time battle with manic depression. Overdosing on morphine, a rising star came crashing down to the ground. Passing away far too young, the 19 year old voice of his generation left behind one last piece of art to remember him by. Appropriately titled, A GIFT BEFORE I GO is Nick's final present to the music and the fans he loved.

Ignite - Best Of 1994-2004

Orange County’s Ignite aren’t another punk rock/hardcore band. They don’t wear make up. They don’t care about image. They aren’t a here today, gone tomorrow flash in the pan. They aren’t tired scenesters, clinging desperately to the past. So what, you ask, are Ignite? That’s easy. Ignite, who’ve been making music together for over 10 years, are a successful, international act with a diehard global following. They’ve got a proven, rabid fanbase that populates over 30 countries, thanks to their Iron Man tour scheduling. People go crazy for Ignite all over Europe, Australia, South America, and in their native US, and that’s why the band lives on the road, bringing the fans what they want and what they need. Ignite are rock band with hardcore roots, a rock band that supports a series of environmentally and socially conscious groups like Doctors Without Borders, Habitat For Humanity, Sea Shepherds, Project Blue Sea, and Earth First. Ignite have donated the proceeds from a series of seven inches, ten inches, and splits to these causes. They’ve released three albums, A Place Called Home (2000), Past Our Means (1996) and Call On My Brothers (1995), all of which enjoy a place in the hardcore canon. Our Darkest Days is their latest full-length, and first for Abacus Recordings.

Government Issue: The Complete History Vol. 2

A rare case where a Volume Two is the far superior. Part of that was basic evolution: D.C.'s GI began as an inferior hardcore-thrash band (with a singular front man in John Stabb, who earned all admiration the moment he appeared on stage wearing bondage clown pants as a statement!), but they were cogs in the original Dischord D.C. scene. Within a few years, they improved drastically on more potent LPs like Joyride and The Fun Just Never Ends, and then made a jump into more unique post-punk with 1986's self-titled record (all chronicled on
Volume I). But the rest of their breakthrough on Vol. 2 is a key lineup change, as 1987's fantastic You, which leads off this double-disc, shows in spades. A quantum leap in hefty, precise, pure power, You was clearly the result of the addition of a new, hot rhythm section in J. Robbins on bass (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) and drummer Peter Moffet (Wool, Burning Airlines). The pair's added harmonies (especially), superb playing, chops, and dexterity fit perfect with Stabb and guitarist Tom Lyle's clear plan to cut all ties with lame hardcore cretins -- while maintaining the big-guitar edge and bomb-running melodies of their punk roots. Drop in elements of psychedelia and '79-'83-Damned-like singing from Stabb, and his usual challenging lyrics (he was clearly beating himself up over a disastrous relationship with a too-young girl, but still had time to rightly chide the brain-dead remnants of post-1983 punk rockers in "Hole in the Scene"), and you have one of the best punk-inspired LPs of the middle 1980s. Stabb says, in these liner notes, "Whenever someone is unfamiliar with the name GI, introduce them to this album." Indeed. The addition of their final studio LP, Crash (nearly as good, if a little more of a melange of different stuff, including some minor hard-rock leanings), and an entire second disc of primo live recordings of this ultimate lineup makes it an even more rock-solid pick-up....by Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover

Government Issue - The Complete History Vol. 1

80 songs from one of the most influential '80s DC bands. This 2CD set includes 'Make An Effort' EP, 'Boycott Stabb' EP, songs from the 'Flipside' LP, 'Joyride' LP, The 'Fun Just Never Ends' LP, 'Give Us Stabb Or Give Us Death' LP, 'Live' LP, Self Titled LP and more. Plus a 20-page booklet with liner notes from Tom Lyle and John Stabb. Dr. Strange Records. Classic DC hardcore band , and also the only one next to Bad Brains to stay together spanning nearly 10 years. This anthology collection starts off great with it's catchy hardcore punk tracks , but as it starts getting to the Joyride album it slows down and kinda leaves you bored after awhile. What I really wanna know is like someone else pointed out...wheres the tracks from the Year in Dischord?..THAT'S CLASSIC..they left out "I'm James Dean" and other great songs , and the versions of those songs that are on here were performed alot better on the Year in Dischord album..get it anyway it's still classic hardcore. Government Issue is the ONLY DC band to stick it out from the begnning to the near end of the seminal DC Hardcore era. They progressed from one album to the next, never losing intensity.
Their earlier stuff is catchy, but look to songs like "they know", and "hear the scream". Both versions of "Blending in" are massive, in all respects. An awesome , awesome collection of songs , from one of my favorite 80's punk bands. Every song is great , and this collection is worth every penny

Seein' Red - This CD Kills Fascists

Angry, fast and aggressive hardcore songs from this awesome political hardcore band. Unrelenting fury and politics from one of hardcore's oldest bands. True veterans. Seein' Red has been together for many, many years. They have played all over the world. They have released dozens and dozens of records. And they are a very well known and respected hardcore band. Angry, political, and pissed off... Seein' Red offers a wall of hardcore noise. Powerful music with a powerful message. SEEIN RED is about anti-capitalism , we believe that the capitalist system breeds most, if not all, ills in this world. The competition for markets produces devastating wars and environmental destruction. The profit motive of capitalism is a major cause of the problems we face in today's society like: inequality, poverty, alienation, crime, discrimination, homelessness, etc etc. Each day we witness that we live in a world full of greed, injustice, oppression, wage-slavery, class distinctions, racism, sexism, hate, homophobia, exploitation, military madness, religious fundamentalism etc. And in this current world Capitalism is the dominant ideology and therefore our main enemy.

Along with members of the bands DYS and SS Decontrol (SSD), Negative FX was part of the Boston Crew: a group who traveled around the country with SSD and other Boston hardcore bands.

Gabba – Leave Stockholm

Gabba is a London-based British tribute band performing ABBA songs in the stripped down punk style of the Ramones, a style of pop punk they dubbed discopunk and claim to have invented[1]. They formed in 1996 and took their name in 1999. They have released three albums as of 2006.
Gabba was informally formed in 1996 by Stig Honda, alleged "professor at the Osaka Rock 'n' Roll High School", who enrolled five students from all over the world to fuse the disco pop of Abba and the punk rock of the Ramones, creating "disco-punk".

In 1999, the band took its name of "GABBA, The Discopunk Sensation". The name is an acrostic on the members' nicknames, echoing both the Ramones' "Gabba Gabba Hey" and the name of Abba.

Their second recording and official debut album, the CD Leave Stockholm (1999), was produced by Stigma Records (UK) and sub-distributed by Rough Trade Records.

According to a band statement, " [In 2001] GABBA release their complex 3rd album, the Spanish language "Tijuana Dance". However, the album was banned and withdrawn from sale after just 1 week for being "Anti-Establishment", due to some confusion over Bee Bee's appalling Spanish translations which inadvertently accused the Queen of England of being a Nazi Stormtrouper (in a stupor, no less). It is unclear if the album will ever be released again. "

Geeky (Japan) - guitar (represents Johnny Ramone)
Anneky (Sweden) - vocals, chorus (represents Agnetha Fältskog)
Bjöey (US) - lead vocals (represents Björn Ulvaeus and Joey Ramone)
Bee Bee (Germany) - bass, vocals (represents Benny Andersson and Dee Dee Ramone)

The Professionals - I Didn't See It Coming

Give guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook credit: Instead of resting on their 1977-era laurels, they reasserted themselves on what wound up being their only joint post-Sex Pistols album (not counting production or sessions). Although Cook and Jones lacked the combustive charisma of Johnny Rotten or Sid Vicious, they made up for those shortcomings with plenty of musical firepower. Unfortunately, the public would wait nearly two years to find out, but this reissue of the long-delayed I Didn't See It Coming album makes a good case for its re-evaluation. Cook and Jones hadn't lost their ear for the well-turned anthem; the anti-cop "Little Boys," the music industry slam of "Payola," "Northern Slide," and "Kick Down the Doors" are among the tracks bearing repeated spins. &The Magnificent" opens matters with a sly send-up of Rotten's post-Pistols band, Public Image Limited, with the requisite scratchy guitar to match. The quieter moments work equally well, too: "Crescendo" is a punked-up power ballad, while "Friday Night Square" sketches a vivid snapshot of walking aimlessly around, checking out the sleazy nightlife. The band's approach is direct as its music. Jones upholds his reputation as punk's answer to Chuck Berry, while Cook's support is steady and unflinching. Former Subway Sect bassist Paul Meyers and guitarist Ray McVeigh lend quiet, unassuming support. The best news here are the eight bonus tracks of singles that preceded the album -- such as the rousing "&1-2-3-4," which became a live staple. All the relevant stuff is here, so punk fans shouldn't miss this one.... -Ralph Heibutzki, All Music-

The Vibrators - Live at CBGB's

The Vibrators were founded by Ian 'Knox' Carnochan, bassist Pat Collier, guitarist John Ellis, and drummer John 'Eddie' Edwards. They first came to public notice at the 100 Club when they backed Chris Spedding in 1976. On Spedding's recommendation, Mickie Most signed them to his label RAK Records. Most produced their first single, "We Vibrate". The band also backed Spedding on his single, "Pogo Dancing".
The Vibrators recorded sessions at for John Peel at BBC Radio 1 in October 1976, June 1977, and February 1978. They were one of the pioneering punk bands that played at London's Roxy Club. They headlined in January 1977, supported by The Drones, and in February they played twice at the venue. In March 1977 the band supported Iggy Pop on his British tour. Later that year they backed ex-Mott the Hoople frontman Ian Hunter.
The band signed to Epic Records in early 1977. Their debut album, Pure Mania which was co-produced with Robin Mayhew the sound engineer for David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust live shows, reached the Top 50 of the UK Albums Chart. The album is well regarded by some music critics, and 17 years after its release, The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music named Pure Mania one of the 50 best punk albums of all-time.
Their follow-up album, V2, narrowly missed the UK Top 30. The only single to be taken from that album, "Automatic Lover", was the only Vibrators’ single to reach the UK Top 40. It earned the band a TV appearance on the prime-time TV show Top of the Pops. The Vibrators’ final single on Epic, "Judy Says (Knock You In The Head)", was released in June 1978. Years later it was included in mojo magazine’s list of the best punk rock singles of all time.
A lack of further chart activity, and with only one UK Top 40 single to their credit, sees the Vibrators join the list of one-hit wonders; a list that includes other UK punk and new wave acts such as The Banned, John Cooper Clarke, The Flying Lizards, Jilted John, 999, the Radio Stars, and the Rich Kids.
During the 1980s, John Ellis recorded and toured frequently with Peter Hammill, and subsequently The Stranglers, eventually joining the latter full-time in the 1990s. Pat Collier went on to work closely with The Soft Boys, producing their seminal album, Underwater Moonlight, and Robyn Hitchcock, producing and mixing some of his solo albums (to which Knox also sometimes contributed). Despite numerous line-up changes, The Vibrators are still touring to this date as a three-piece, Carnochan and "Eddie" being the only original members. Live Near The Seedy Mill Golf Course was released in the UK by Invisible Hands Music in 2003.

CMX - Johannes Kastaja 7"

This is one weird assed raging Finnish hardcore ep. What's so strange about the band is that they've gone from this strange hardcore punk sound/attitude to being one of the most popular bands in Finland ever. They were voted the "Best Band of All Time" in Finland, though they are virtually unknown outside the country. The band put out a few great hardcore records, and then leaned more towards mainstream sounds in the 90's. It really is hard to fathom this being the same band. They are still together today putting out records and making music.
There are probably 500 of these ep's and somehow I own two copies. I was a weird collector fiend in the late 80's. I'd buy anything that was obscure and from another country. This debut I prolly didn't "get" like I do now.... but what I think makes these guys is the fact that they weren't doing the d beat crust thing that has been a staple in the Scandi hardcore scene. This stuff is weird, but pure, raw and fast.

Dissent - ST 7"

This band is from South Dakota in the U.S.. Hardcore practice and have the merit of being among the few representatives in a scene not very massive. They have one other work, this is the first, an untitled EP 7''5 song released in 1988 by AMITY RECORDS.
The truth would have made some changes, the first track is a bit loose and the second (Abe Lincoln) would change started, the rest is flawless.
