BORN/Dead - Our Darkest Fears Now Haunt Us

BORN/DEAD deliver charged political hardcore shrouded in the brooding style of East Bay hardcore, carrying forth the lineage of bands like CHRIST ON PARADE, Pain of Mind-era NEUROSIS, ECONOCHRIST, TALK IS POISON,etc. A straight-forward yet inventive attack, devastatingly caustic vocal trade-offs, intricate bass lines and dark riffs at peak drum speed topped with dark political lyrics - dire music for dire times. This is the debut 12" and CD for Oakland's BORN/DEAD, who have gigged mercilessly in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past few years, and have gained a dedicated following from their self released debut 7", which sold out in record time.

An onslaught of amazing hardcore punk rock - this album tears straight through your skull non-stop from start to finish. Amazing lyrics and very cool artwork inside the CD booklet. Sounds very similar to The Rotten Agenda era of Aus-Rotten...Very loud, fast, and distorted. Vocal styling is yelling, but the lyrics are very clear and audible, which is a big reason why Aus-Rotten caught the attention of so many people. Dual vocalists sound awesome together. It's a great feeling to know that there are bands out there like Born/Dead, dealing with more current issues than what has happened in the past. If you are into politically-charged hardcore punk - this is a must have. I'm giving it a five because the album lacks nothing - not one song is worth being skipped over. It's excellent.--Interpunk.com
