Heresy - Face Up To It !

One of the coolest looking records I've seen - I love the cover and the back is an XClaim ripoff, with tons of great pictures. This is also the best Heresy material I've heard, straightforward thrash with plenty of breaks and breakdowns. Unfortunately the sound quality is pretty crappy, the guitar and bass are too thin and the whole thing sounds kind of flat. The band thows in a little experimentation: occasionally the vocalist John does some Kevin Seconds-style singing, and there's a rap at the end of "Flowers in Concrete", but instead of making you cringe it's a nice change of pace. Judging by their photos, Heresy was probably the best live band of all time, it's a shame that their recorded material never really turned out that great.--KFTH
