Floorpunch - Fast Times At The Jersey Shore

The first and only full-length from Jersey's last youth crew band, well youth crew rivival band at any rate. Recorded at Trax East and mixed at the infamous Salad Days, it covers mostly new teritory (of late-80's style sXe, if that makes sense) with a few songs you'll probably remember from Twin Killing. Featuring resident old-timer Chris Zusi (Release, Ressurection, Judas Factor) on guitar, this band has often been compared to Judge, which is arguably the highest compliment.

While I thought the demo tape was their most true and original stuff, this is much more well-produced and refined, without being over-produced like the Revelation Records' remasters. Hardcore never sounded this good in '86, but otherwise it'll fit right in with the classics.

Before you buy, though, be prepared for Mark Porter's abrasive lyrics. Without getting into the band's notoriaty/infamy (before they eventually had to call it quits) and the decidedly un-PC labels of "jock-core" and even homophobic, let's just say this album isn't realy positive, but these days few straight edge bands are, right?--amazon.com
